About the event
Discover the transformative power of prāṇāyāma – the ancient art of breath control.
Elevate your yoga practice with a deep dive deep into the heart of haṭhayoga's core practice. Prāṇāyāma operates on a subtle internal level - clearing energetic pathways (nāḍīs) to facilitate and enhance the flow of vital energy. Prāṇāyāma is renowned for producing heightened states of consciousness and mental clarity. It is also highly effective in promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
This workshop will initially explore fundamental principles of breath control and diaphragmatic breathing. You will then be introduced to preliminary haṭhayoga exercises of kriyā, āsana and nāḍī-śodhana. The central focus of the workshop will be the classic prāṇāyāma techniques of haṭhayoga, as detailed in the fifteenth-century Haṭhapradīpikā. You will learn and practise five of these eight time-honoured techniques as well as traditional auxiliary mudrā practices.
The day will be primarily practice-based and will also include a presentation after lunch with an opportunity for questions and group discussion. Supplementary printed handout materials will also be provided. While some familiarity with yoga is beneficial, experience in prāṇāyāma is not a prerequisite for joining this workshop.
Book now to reserve a place - the link will take you directly to Jame's website to find out more about his wealth of experience and details of how to book.
